Ain’t no party like a White House Party! ;)

We were proud to coordinate this event – I mean, awesome swag bags, delicious food, refreshing drinks, scrumptious cake, tasty desserts, fun music in a casual setting!! What’s not to love?! Don’t just take our word for it, take a look at what attendees had to say!

It was a wonderful Summer Party !!!

It was indeed HOT and humid (after all we do live in Columbia, SC which is known to be famously hot), but thankfully it didn’t rain!! But even if it had, we were once again prepared with tents (thanks to Lee Pitcovich and the team at Something Borrowed). They also provided tables, linens, chairs, dance floor and the AWESOME FANS to help people everyone cool!! If you need rentals for your next event, call them!! The vintage rentals were once again provided by Deborah with Charmingly Southern Vintage Rentals. They add just the right touch, especially at our historic property!

It was a great night and we had all of the key elements for hosting a fabulous party thanks to our generous event sponsors!! Paige Phillips Photography & Design designed the graphics used on social media as well as the postcard promoting the event. Jessica with JWK Weddings helped us line up sponsors for the party and coordinated the giveaways that night. Food, drink, music and more…must have a been a great party!

This past Tuesday we hosted our 2nd annual Engagement Party/Summer Social! While it never rained, we certainly thought it was going to at the beginning of the evening just like it did last year, with the dark clouds and rumbling thunder in the not so far distance. Thankfully, we escaped a downpour but even if it had rained, we were once again prepared with tents (2 this year) thanks to Lee Pitcovich and the team at Lake Murray Event Rentals. They also provided tables and linens were provided by Neeley Consulting.

We worked hard to get the cottage “fixed up” just in time for our event. Not much had to be done, just some MAJOR cleaning up and cleaning out, upgrading the electricity and adding new lighting. We wanted to be able to show off this great space that we will be using to display and store our rental items for weddings and events.

A big thank you to all of the attendees!! We hope you enjoyed yourselves! Can’t wait to start planning for next year! – Jennifer

Then in April we found out that Malynn and Austin’s June 2015 was featured on A Low Country Wedding!! You can check out their feature here – South Carolina wedding at Sardis Baptist Church

What is my design style?

Good question! I’m glad you asked!

I would say “my style” is my interpretation of the Bride’s vision and a reflection of her unique style and taste. Many floral designers strive to perfect their “signature style” and there is nothing wrong with that, it’s just not for me. Being limited to my “own” style is like being an actor that plays the same type of role in every film or tv show they do.  Boring!! Haha

I much prefer for someone to look at my portfolio of work and imagine the type of bride that carried each bouquet. I find my inspiration direct from the Bride herself and let the creativity flow from there. It is the Bride’s day, not mine and my job is to guide and suggest flowers and colors based on her preferences and my expertise.

Many brides tell me they don’t know much about flowers and that’s okay! I do! 🙂 I can draw inspiration from the Bride’s pinterest board, her wedding dress, the bridesmaids dresses, the wedding colors as well as her personality when I meet with her.

Nothing kicks off a Party quite like a big ‘ole Thunderstorm!

Engagement Party• Summer Social•

This past Tuesday, June 23rd, we hosted our first ever Engagement Party Summer Social and yes, it started off with a bang! It was almost like it was timed for the beginning of the party!  Right before 6PM, it started getting dark and the clouds rolled in and then boom…thunder, lightning and a huge downpour! Many guests had already arrived and several were just getting here and decided to wait in their cars for a few minutes. Like any good photographer would do, Clark Berry remained calm and assured me that it was a fast moving storm and would clear up soon (he was indeed right). And like any well planned event, we were prepared with a tent, thanks to Lee Pitcovich with Celebrations of Columbia!

They say rain on your Wedding day is good luck right? Well, it must be good luck to have rain at your Engagement Party too! We ended up having a great party that lasted until almost 9pm and we were thrilled with the turn out! We had lots of wedding professionals attend from the Columbia area as well as engaged couples and friends stop by and enjoy the festivities! Everyone enjoyed delicious food from Applause Catering, Desserts from My Dessert Bar and Izzabee’s Confectioneries and cake samples from Bonnie Brunt Cakes. Since it is summer time in SC, we also provided frozen lemonade from Famously Frozen to cool everyone off! It was a great chance for folks to visit and meet new people, see our gift shop, tour our flower barn and even check out our chickens and vegetable garden on our property!

The rain postponed Colatown Photobooth being able to set up initially, but thankfully a few people were able to still participate. Check out the cute photos – Photo Booth

I’ve included a few other photos from the party!

Can’t wait to plan next year’s Engagement Party!

The Carnation is making a comeback!

The carnation was once considered old-fashioned and many times thought of as just a ‘funeral flower’. What a shame! Such a beautiful flower that comes in a variety of gorgeous colors and is still relatively inexpensive. I am happy that so many brides are open to using this flower in their weddings these days. It has great texture and blends well with flowers such as hydrangeas and roses. It also has great impact done in mass for compact designs. A quick search on Pinterest and you will find lots of examples. I’ve attached a couple including a wreath that we did for a wedding last November that incorporated dark purple and red carnations. If you like full and lush floral designs, add carnations to your must-have list!
